We need an artist to create a cardboard rendition of OLD MAN GLOOM. Please email me if you can help us. The ideas are to have a cardboard figure with all the awful things happening hanging from his sleeves. You know the things that Republicans continually vote upon to hurt families:

  • climate change deniers,
  • guns/guns/and more guns.
  • Trickle-down economics
  • No compassion for immigrants
  • More tax breaks for the right
  • Demonizing women
  • Taking reproductive rights away
  • Bedroom politics
  • Passing bans and laws against families
  • Telling people who they can and can’t love
  • Lying about education and history
  • Being in the pockets of big pharma
  • Failing to protect against big gas and oil
  • Giveaways to the filthy rich
  • Removing laws to protect the environment and climate

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and Gabby Giffords

Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords  (D-Arizona) came hand in hand down the stairs of the Democratic Coordinated Campaign headquarters Sunday with Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to remind at least 100 enthusiastic Democrats that the fight is not over to end gun violence in our country.

A survivor of the 2017 Las Vegas, NV mass shooting, Amanda Getchell, described the horror of the event and the gratitude of surviving it. Getchell now lives in New Mexico and is married with a small daughter, Mila. Amanda says surviving the event motivated her to become a gun safety activist and she supports and is proud of the work the governor is doing to keep New Mexico children safe.

MLG pointed to the progress New Mexico has made in sensible gun regulations including red flag laws, which permit police to petition the court to order the temporary removal of firearms from someone who they believe may present a danger to others or themselves.

County Commission Anna Hansen handed Giffords a resolution passed by Santa Fe County urging Congress and the State Legislature to enact common sense gun regulations. Gun violence disproportionately affects women of color and minorities whose neighborhoods are racially segregated. In 2019 New Mexico had the fourth highest rate of gun deaths in the nation.

The event was followed by active door-to-door canvassing and phone banking at headquarters and from people’s homes.

Democracy Means Voter Access: Here’s How to Help

We are gearing up to train poll challengers for the Nov. 8 election – and we need your help in our 31 polling places. CLICK HERE FOR POLING LOCATIONS.

Each polling place is allowed two poll challengers to observe voter access and help protect our fair elections; one challenger is designated from each political party. The Democratic Party of New Mexico, in conjunction with our county party, trains and organizes Democratic Party volunteers who will learn basic election rules. The state party will soon offer a training video for volunteer poll challengers to watch at home. You do not need to be an election expert. Poll challengers just need to observe the polling place, ensuring voters are not disenfranchised. Complicated issues are called in to legal advisors stationed at the party’s phone bank.

Poll challengers observe how issues are resolved by the county clerk’s team of election workers and call in any issues of possible voter disenfranchisement. The Democratic Party supports every eligible voter’s right to vote.

Here’s more information from the New Mexico Secretary of State,. CLICK HERE

Please consider joining the Santa Fe County Democratic Party on election day as a poll challenger. For more information and to be added to our list, contact Mary Jane Parks, SFCDP Vice Chair 2, at
