Congresswoman Leger Fernández is seeking to hire a dynamic, experienced, team-oriented, and highly motivated District Director based out of the Santa Fe Office to lead her district offices and team. 

The District Director serves as the Member’s senior staffer in the Congressional District to ensure the district office implements the Member’s strategic vision and goals. This position works closely with the Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, Communications Director, and the Member to strategically build relationships with constituents and stakeholders, develop and execute events that highlights the Member’s work, and represent the Member at events and meetings throughout the district. The District Director manages and oversees all district operations, workflow, assignments of responsibilities, and staff performance. 

Responsibilities include 1) overseeing the Member’s constituent casework; 2) managing work with federal, state, and local agencies to resolve district issues; 3) facilitating strong communication between the district offices and the legislative, scheduling, and communications teams in D.C. office; 4) recruiting, selecting, and onboarding district office staff; 5) planning and scheduling district events/meetings with the Member during district work periods; 6) making sure the office is complying with all policies, practices, and procedures; and 7) traveling frequently throughout the district to staff the Member and meet with constituents. 

Qualifications for this position include strong organization and time management skills, written and verbal communication skills, leadership qualities, and staff management and mentorship skills. This position requires the ability to collaborate with the Member and team as well as to think creatively and operate in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines. Well-qualified candidates should be politically savvy, have a thorough understanding of issues in the district, and have strong relationships with New Mexico stakeholders.
