In his speech commemorating the First Anniversary of the Capitol Insurrection, President Biden did not hold back. And we shouldn’t either.

We believe in the truth, not lies. We believe in science. We believe in peer-reviewed studies backed by facts. We believe in moving forward, not backwards.

Democrats care about your economic well-being. We support affordable health care and lower prescription drug costs, affordable housing, and a living wage, and we continue to work to keep Social Security safe for generations.

We fight for working families. Democrats support quality public schools, early-childhood learning, paid family leave, organized labor, equal pay, workplace safety, ending hunger in the U.S., and safety net programs that help all American families.

Health care is a human right and not a privilege for the wealthy few. We will work tirelessly to ensure that all Americans have access to affordable, quality health care.

Democracy is at risk when people aren’t allowed to vote. Democrats will fight to end voter suppression, pass the New Mexico Voting Rights Act, federal voting rights legislation, and give all Americans greater and easier access to voting.

Climate change is real and a threat to our economy, our national security and our children’s health and futures. We support action now to save our planet.

Too many children have been killed with guns. Our assault weapon and gun safety laws are an international embarrassment, and it’s time we did something about it.

The top 1% of U.S. households own more wealth than the bottom 90% combined. Democrats support taxing corporations and the wealthy 1% and building an economy that works for everybody.

Santa Fe Democrats gathered for a Leadership Training Retreat Dec. 4 and created a set of issues the party considers hot-button topics for our county voters. That’s our local list above reflecting competitive messages crafted by Jim Melzner and the Communications Committee.

Keep these messages in mind as you discuss the political scene with family and friends, whether they be Democrats, Independents, Republican voters or unregistered. Don’t hold back. It’s time to fight back.
