Remarks from Chair Roybal
‘When the Middle Class is Strong’
Good morning, fellow Democrats! Thank you for being here today. My name is Henry Roybal. I was county commissioner for this district from 2015-2023 and now I am serving the community as chair of the Democratic Party of Santa Fe County, also a newly elected trustee on Jemez Cooperative and volunteer basketball coach at Sombrillo Elementary.
This is where I grew up and live today. I graduated from Pojoaque High School in 1988. I am honored to be the MC for this event in my hometown – the community in Northern New Mexico where my family has been for 14 generations.
We are here to show the energy and strength of the Democratic Party. Please check in and sign up to be a part of this historic event in our nation’s history as we elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz to ensure our children’s future.
Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz are fighting for that future. They will protect women’s health rights, strengthen our democracy and ensure that every person has the opportunity to not only get by, but to get ahead.
Donald Trump is trying to bring forward the dangerous project 2025, which would give him unlimited and unchecked power that would hurt the middle class and threaten our democracy.
Harris has plans to lower costs for families on everyday needs like prescriptions and groceries and make housing more affordable. She will also give down payment help to first time home buyers so that more Americans can experience the pride of home ownership. She will also cut taxes for more than 100 million working- and middle-class Americans.
As a prosecutor a U.S. Senator and now the Vice President, she has spent her career standing up and protecting everyday Americans. Vice President Harris grew up in a middle-class family with a working mom, which resonates with us here who know the needs our families face. She believes, as I do, that when the middle class is strong, America is strong.
In November, let’s elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz – and return to office our slate of Democrats to represent us and our families.
