MARDI GRAS
The county party is rolling out the beads, masks, food and music for Mardi Gras Tuesday. Feb. 21, 5:30-8 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 833 Early Street (across from Tiny’s Restaurant). What a way to prepare for Lent.
Partygoers will be entertained with zydeco, Dixieland jazz and other New Orleans-style music and feast on jambalaya, cornbread, a sheet King’s Cake created by Taos County Commissioner Henry Roybal and Northern New Mexico style creolitos pintos (red beans), cornbread and jambaladas (red and green enchiladas) and other desserts. A cash bar will be available. The event will also feature a silent auction and a prize for best dressed, which can mean any type of Mardi Gras attire or disguise. Thanks to Billy Lujan for the mixed tape of music: not so loud that you can’t talk and not so soft that you can’t dance.
Tickets are economically priced at $25 per person or $250 for a table of eight, $500 or $1,000 for underwriting sponsorship.
