Four Santa Fe County Democrats who go beyond the call of duty were awarded blue ribbon medals by the State Democratic Party’s “Kick Ass Awards” Aug. 6.
- Phyllis Bustamante, Ward 4A Vice Chair, won for inaugurating the Community Services Committee, running the county party’s IT services and overall volunteerism.
- Paul Dirdak, who serves on the State Budget and Finance Committee, won for both his volunteerism for Team Teresa (Congresswoman Leger Fernandez) and his work on drafting the party’s new finance rules, raising money for the state party and increasing state budget transparency. Dirdak, who was not mentioned in the last newsletter, was described by one nominator as “funny, pragmatic, professional and someone who lives our values every day” and by another as “humble, selfless and hardworking … a man who asks for no recognition.”
- Bernadette Vadurro, County Chair, won for organizing the county party’s finances while serving as an aspirational, inspirational leader.
- Cordy Medina, Ward1C Vice Chair, won for raising funds for the county party, aggressive petition gathering, chairing the Hispanic Caucus and activity on the Northern New Mexico connection.
Congratulations to all our Santa Fe kickers!
