SANTA FE COUNTY OFFICERS
Chair Henry Roybal  Male/Man

I am running for re-election as chair of the Democratic Party to keep up the momentum to elect Democrats in the mid-terms in 2026. One of my goals is to increase outreach to families so that we can get more people interested in our work and to vote for our candidates. I also have begun talking to Democratic leaders in neighboring counties to form a coalition. We can join with Democrats in Rio Arriba, Sandoval, and Taos counties and show them some of our programs that have made us successful. In the 2024 elections, we had some losses in young voters and Hispanic voters, and we must begin listening to those people and involving them. I’d like to see family events that bring more people back to party.

My years as a county commissioner helped me learn how to work with government agencies, and I am particularly proud of some of the stands DPSFC has taken such as supporting the County Clerk to get money to run elections as this supported our voters and constituents. My service also taught me how to work with fellow elected officials.

I am proud to work with my two strong and dedicated vice chairs and Ward leaders and committee chairs who work hard to organize all of the democratic Party events. We are stronger today because we have more precinct chairs elected or appointed in March than we’ve had since the early days of the party. Some of our Wards have all precinct chairs filled and are already planning ways to reach out to voters. I thank them for their great work.

Many of you know that because of my job at Los Alamos National Laboratories and my community volunteer work I am a delegator. I think this has worked well for DPSFC. I am proud of our leaders who run canvassing, phone banking, texting, IT, communications, and all our other committees. I am also proud of the work of our Community Service Program that shows Democrats are working for you.

I am a graduate of Pojoaque Valley High School and have a degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Design from Northern New Mexico College. I’ve worked at LANL for 24 years. I was chair of the Santa Fe County Commission for 6 of my 8 years. The boards I have been on are Buckman Direct Diversion Board as chair and vice chair, the Metropolitan Planning Organization as chair and vice chair, Solid Waste Management Agency, Regional Coalition of LANL Communities, Santa Fe County Housing Authority, Santa Fe County Board of Finance, the North Central Regional Transit District, and the Santa Fe County Investment Committee.
My wife Marlene and I live on a small farm in The Pojoaque valley community more specifically EL Rancho where my Families have lived for 16 generations. We have four children, one grandchild and have been foster parents for 10 years. When I think about my children and foster children that’s when I think about how important it is for all of us to support what Democrats stand for.

Chair (Vice) David Thompson  Male/Man
I have decided to seek re-election as a vice-chair of the county party. For the last four years, I have supported our county chairs, helping to organize our county activities – both between and during elections. I took a leading role in organizing our county’s part of the coordinated campaign last fall, and I’m proud of the team we put together here in Santa Fe County and of the fact that we had over 1000 volunteers on our campaign. But despite the strong results in our county – results that helped ensure NM wins for Kamala and our congressional candidates – we saw drops in turnout and our vote share across much of the county. So one of my priorities for the next two years will be outreach to voters to better understand the issues that are important to them and their attitudes towards our party. That will allow us to orient our approach leading up to the midterm elections. And personally, I hope that our approach will include an increased emphasis on economic (“kitchen table”) issues for working people here in Santa Fe County and NM overall.

Chair (Vice) Mary Jane Parks  Female/Woman
I was recently in a forum where attendees were asked to write down three words that are important to you. Don’t spend too much time, but will you jot down your own words? Use them in your activism. We follow the ideas we know and writing them down helps the ideals becomes actions we can take toward peaceful protest and democratic resistance.

In the days and months ahead, we will fight for workers’ rights, protect our environment, protect the right to vote and litigate as citizens against the oligarchic dismantling of our democratic institutions. We need your ideas and ideals in the Democratic Party.

Three words that inspire me to pursue leadership within the Democratic Party are.

  1. Unchallenged. As in do not leave an unconstitutional power grab by Elon Musk and trump unchallenged.
  2. Imagination. My nickname for RFK because he makes up solutions to medical problems using his own imagination. Good government policy is based on the rule of law and on facts — not on imagination. Imagination serves a purpose when we want to consider something artistically! This is really fun, but is not governance.
  3. Story. Storytelling helps us both communicate with our neighbors and to listen to their views. Your story about your activism inspires me. I love to hear what is important to you.  In my personal activism, I hope to be vigilant and uphold the values of our community, state, and country.

In our Democratic Party of Santa Fe County, we are a great team of individuals who care deeply about our region , New Mexico and the USA. Everybody plays an important role and I look forward to working with you.

STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE
Female/Woman
Anne Albrink
As a Democrat active in Santa Fe, I would like the opportunity to have a wider opportunity in the state.

Billie Blair
Let’s work together to listen to voters, build relationships statewide and create messaging that welcomes ALL people to the Democratic Party. Let’s keep our eye on the prize: winning elections for Democrats.

During the last election cycle I built closer connections with the State Party, including designing a postcard campaign for at-risk NM House candidates in the Albuquerque metro area. I do the homework, show up, collaborate and know New Mexico’s diversity.

Please return me to the SCC. You will be electing a doer: Chair SFCDP Communications Team, active canvasser, postcard campaign captain and ran phone campaign for Hispanic outreach.

Also, someone with insight into the state from observing the Party and candidates as a newspaper reporter, editor and publisher in New Mexico for 26 years; active member of statewide boards; media consultant and speechwriter for statewide candidates.

Together, we can convince voters that Democratic Party values are New Mexican values and get our candidates elected. Thank you for your consideration.

Christina Chavarria
I wish to be selected as a State Central Committee Member. I am currently an SCC and have served several terms. I am a retired State employee and Chairperson of my Acequia Association. I am well aware of the concerns our residents have in our state. I look forward in continuing to be a voice for the people of New Mexico.

Carole Engelder
As our society moves alarmingly toward rights restrictions, voter suppression and acceptance of intolerance, I am running for State Central Committee to be a part of the solution and protect the American democracy. Involvement in the New Mexico Democratic Party’s election process is a foundational step toward civic involvement.

Breanna Garcia
My name is Breanna Garcia, and I’m running for SCC because it’s time for fresh leadership that reflects the true spirit of Santa Fe. I am a proud Native and Hispanic woman, born and raised in this city, and I carry with me the strength of my ancestors, my culture, and my community.

Our Democratic Party should be a place where all people—especially those from historically underrepresented backgrounds—feel welcomed, respected, and empowered. I’m running to make sure that young people, women, Native voices, and communities of color have a seat at the table and a voice in shaping the future.

Santa Fe is rich in culture, history, and diversity. It’s time our party truly reflects that. I will bring energy, perspective, and commitment to rebuild a stronger, more inclusive Democratic Party—one that lifts up local voices and invites the next generation to lead with pride.

I’m not just here to be part of the conversation—I’m here to help lead it.

Vote for Breanna Garcia for SCC. Together, we can create a party that truly represents the people, honors our roots, and moves forward with unity and strength.

Anna C Hansen
As a former County Commissioner, I’m running to give voice to the constituents on the SCC. I’m the Ward Chair for 2B and am working to rebuild the Ward. I’m President of Casa Alegra Neighborhood. We need action and hard work both of which I have proven as a leader in our community. I have stood up and protected our public lands, our forest, and the Caja del Rio. I have stood up to LANL and continually opposed their expansion of the Military Industrial Complex. We need leaders with courage to fight for the environment.
For the past 8 years I have worked tirelessly for Santa Fe County and the constituents of District 2. I have listen the constituents and act on their behalf.
I’ve been a leading force on sustainability and renewable energy. I’m the Chair of the Coalition of Sustainable Communities of New Mexico, who helped secure the Community Solar Act and developed the Climate investment Center, which will help low-mid income constituents to have access energy efficiency and solar for their homes.
We need a person who will stand up for you and fight for clean water, air and land.
Please vote for me for SCC.

Connie Hvidsten
I am one of the Ward Chairs on the south side of Santa Fe County (3A – near the airport). I want to be part of the State Central Committee to 1) better understand the workings of the Party at the state level, 2) vote for state-level Party candidates who are level-headed, progressive, and inclusive, 3) provide greater support from the state Party for the County Parties across the state, and 4) to promote initiatives to improve education, environmental protection, social justice, and state-level resistance to federal anti-working class and anti-democratic programs. I am relatively new to Democratic Party politics and I consider this a opportunity to learn and and opportunity to be active in improving the way the Democratic Party functions in the state to be more inclusive/less devisive and more proactive/less reactive. I hope you will support my candidacy.

Amanda Jasper
I’m running for State Central Committee because I want to participate rather than consume news and worry. Action, NOW!

Juliana Lucero
I am currently in my first two-year term as a SCC representing DPSFC. I am placing my name to continue the work in this important position since I have time and ability to dedicate. I want to continue to learn about the policies and procedures within DPNM. Begin part of SCC has been beneficial for me and has allowed me to know the leadership of our party in our great state.

Cissie Ludlow
I want to support the inclusion on the state central committee of young, imaginative, and progressive points of view.

Mona Lujan
I am proudly serving as a Ward chair in Santa Fe County, I am dedicated to serving the party, volunteering to grow the party, bringing home those democrats we have lost, engaging with those conflicted as well engaging with new voters. For SCC I appreciate the opportunity to elect our leadership and work to strengthen our party.

Alexa Maros
I’m running to continue my work on the State Central Committee because I care about our party, our state, and our country. I think it’s important that we continue to represent the views of our Santa Fe County in a broader state forum like SCC. It’s a privilege to be able to vote on party platform and other policy matters. I’ll close by saying there’s still lots of work to do and I want to help. Thank you,
Alexa Maros, Chair Ward 5A.

Cordelia Medina
I believe in the Democratic Party and believe actions speak louder than words. I am a strong supporter of our party and have always made my vote count in every election. I will not
sit back and make sure I do my part in getting good qualified candidates elected.

Letitia Montoya
My name is Letitia Montoya, and I’m running for SCC because I believe the Democratic Party must return to being the party of the people—all the people. I’ve lived in Ward 1C my entire life, and I’ve seen firsthand how we’re losing longtime Democrats right here in our own county. Why? Because we’ve allowed division and ideology to replace respect and unity.

Moderate and conservative Democrats are being pushed out. Native New Mexican Democrats are being ignored or treated like outsiders in their own communities. If you don’t align with the most liberal voices, you’re made to feel like you don’t belong. That is wrong—and it’s why we are losing members across New Mexico.

We are not just a liberal party. We are a party of workers, families, culture, tradition, and strength. If elected to the SCC, I will fight to bring balance back to our conversations and fairness back to the table. I will stand up for those who are being left out, and make sure every Democrat—not just the loudest ones—has a voice.

We cannot let our party die from the inside. We must fight for it—and I will.

Gabrielle Montoya-Segura
American and Hispanic woman, born and raised in this city, with family roots that go back 17 generations. This land is not just my home—it’s my heritage.

As a young Democrat, I believe in stepping up to help shape the future—not just for myself, but for all the people and communities who make Santa Fe what it is. I want to be a voice for young people, for women of color, and for the working families that keep our city alive. Our Native and Hispanic communities have a deep history here, and we deserve a seat at the table in every decision that impacts us.

I will bring fresh energy, cultural pride, and a strong commitment to building a more inclusive and united Democratic Party. It’s time to lift up every voice and ensure that our leadership reflects the people it serves.

Vote for Gabrielle Montoya-Segura for SCC. Let’s honor our roots, fight for our future, and lead with heart and strength—together.

Cindy Pabst
I am running for the New Mexico Democratic Party’s State Central Committee (SCC) because I believe in building a stronger, more inclusive, and effective Democratic Party that truly represents the voices of all New Mexicans. We need leaders dedicated to grassroots engagement, progressive values, and winning elections up and down the ballot.

As an SCC member, I will advocate for transparency, accountability, and active participation within our party. It’s paramount that the needs of working families, Indigenous and rural communities, young voters, and historically marginalized groups feel that the Democrats have their backs. I want to ensure that we engage in year-round voter outreach, support candidates who uphold Democratic values, and advocate for policies that advance economic justice, climate action, healthcare access, and voting rights.

I bring experience in organizing, policy advocacy, and community engagement. I look forward to collaborating with fellow Democrats to strengthen our party from the ground up.

Julie Rodriquez
As a lifelong Democrat, I’m committed to our party and the process. And I want to put my energy to make our party better.

Geraldine Salazar
I have years of experience in public service with skills in management and policy. I consider my interest to be a member of the NMDP SCC a continuance of my public service to NM.

8 years as the Santa Fe County Clerk, I governed county-wide elections (federal, state, county and municipal elections). I am a firm believer of free, fair, and secure elections to preserve our democratic principles and constitutional right to vote.

I am dedicated to continuing the fight for freedom, justice, and voters rights via the NMDP SCC platform. I promise to be accountable to maintain the trust of our Party members. I will be open to listening to the concerns and suggestions of Party members to ensure their voices are at the table.

Democratic Party membership is my leading concern as a NMDP SCC member. I understand the importance of working side-by-side with all NMDP SCC members to ensure we maintain the trust and interest of our members.

I am willing to serve on the NMDP SCC with respect and professionalism. I can be a voice of reason with considerable knowledge and skills to be a member of the NMDP SCC.

Martha Scheiner
I was on the state central committee previously in 2016, and I would like to participate again.

Bernadette Trujillo-Vadurro
This is an important time for Democrats to unite and continue to build the party in positive ways so we can keep our State BLUE. As a community organizer, former DPSFC Chair, Past President of Santa Fe County Federation of Woman, I am a WORK HORSE dedicated to the success of our party! Please vote Bernadette Vadurro for SCC Member!

Renee Villarreal
I would like to continue serving as a SCC member because I think it important to have diversity and a variety of lived experiences represented on the SCC. We also need representation that is reflective of our demographic makeup of Santa Fe County. As a former a City Councilwoman I understand first hand why representation matters.

STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE
Gender/Diverse
Nathan Rubinfeld

As the former Vice Chair for the Young Democrats of Santa Fe County and someone under the age of 40, I feel strongly that we need to do more to engage young voters.

As a born-and-raised Santa Fean, I believe we can do more to support those who have spent their entire lives here, have lived here for generations, and or have chosen to stay and build a future here.

As someone who identifies as non-binary, I think we need to and can do more to support LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly at this moment in time.

These aspects of my identity would bring needed perspective to the SCC, particularly through participation as a member of the LGBTQ Caucus and Platform and Resolutions Committee.

STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE
Male/Man

Jonathan Anglin
As a life long Democrat I would like to take a greater part in assuring that our democracy survives the current administration in Washington. I have been and will continue to be an advocate for the due process of law as outlined in our Constitution. I will continue to be an advocate for women’s rights and health care (all rights are human rights). I will continue to be an advocate for public education, a cleaner environment, and cleaner energy, health care for all, veterans, and maintaining Social Security.

Thomas Beckner
I would like to have a say in the direction our Democratic Party takes in response to the dismantling of our country, and work toward electing Democrats at all levels of government.

Paul Bustamante
Interested in learning more about the party at the State level.

Cameron Crawford
I am running to rebuild the Democratic Party to turn it into a service oriented organization instead of an endless fundraising apparatus. We must return to our roots: working class folks.

Kelly Dawson
I am a life long Democrat and I am willing to give my time and effort to see the party succeed.

Paul Dirdak
Our State Central Committee will elect a new Treasurer / Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee as well as the other officers. I helped write the finance sections of our rules and want to be a voice for continuity and expansion of our recent financial management success if SCC elects me as a member of its Budget & Finance Committee. Staff continuity is a new asset for us and its benefits will be huge, if we can sustain it. I’ll advocate for that consistently.

Howard Dittmer
I am concerned about the state of our country’s government and want to do my part to help address the problems we are facing. I am a retired engineer with 45 years experience leading medium to large teams addressing technical and organizational challenges in a range of manufacturing organizations. I believe this well prepares me for the challenges faced by our state’s Democratic Party.

Richard Ellenberg
I have the experience and am willing to offer if there are not enough males. If there are enough to fill the delegation, I withdraw in favor of new blood. It is our Acequia ditch day, so I will not be present in person.

Joseph Loewy
My name is Joseph Loewy. I am the Lead Precinct Captain for all 10 precincts in Ward 5A. I have been a CCC delegate in the Santa Fe County Democratic Party for almost 10 years.

I’ve devoted my retirement years to volunteering in public service including 10 years as an appointed Santa Fe County Housing Authority Board member, chair of the Eldorado Neighborhood Watch program, the largest in the State of New Mexico, a lead volunteer in the Christus St. Vincent Cancer Center Chemo Room and serve as an appointed member of 3 standing committees of the Eldorado Area Water and Sanitation District.

I believe my more than 40 years financial experience during my working years and almost 13 years of volunteering provide a solid background for representing Santa Fe County on the State Central Committee.

Jonathan Longoria
My decision to run comes from the motivation to see that the state party becomes an effective means for change. The SCC is a very important and privileged position to shape the party into an effective institution. I want to use this position to further the voices of those most marginalized, to promote further reforms to create an even further thriving democracy in our state.

David Montoya
I view being a member of the SCC as a solemn duty and obligation to my country and Democracy. As a combat veteran, I always answer the call of my country to serve and there is no other time in history than right now that Democracy is in peril. So I’m stepping up. I ask for your vote, thank you!

Donald Mosley
To help elect democrats and fight for democracy. I am an active member of our party.

Joseph Ortiz
My name is Joe Ortiz, and I’m running for SCC because our Democratic Party needs fresh energy, strong leadership, and a deeper connection to the people who make Santa Fe what it is. I am a Native Santa Fean and a young Democrat, proudly rooted in generations of Hispanic New Mexicans who helped build this city and carry its values forward.

Too many local voices—especially young people and longtime families—have been overlooked or pushed aside. Our party should be a reflection of our community: diverse, hardworking, and proud of its culture. I’m running to help rebuild trust, restore respect, and make sure that everyone feels represented again.

As a young Democrat, I bring the energy and commitment to lead with both purpose and pride. I believe we must lift up all voices—progressive, moderate, working class, and those who’ve felt forgotten. It’s time to bring our people back into the process and strengthen the party from the ground up.

If elected to SCC, I will stand for fairness, inclusion, and the values that truly represent Santa Fe.

Vote for Joe Ortiz—a Native Santa Fean and young Democrat ready to fight for our community and our future.

Michael Segura
My name is Michael Segura, and I’m running for SCC to help rebuild our Democratic Party into one that truly represents all people in Santa Fe. I am a proud Native Santa Fean with deep roots in this city, and I know how important it is to protect and uplift the culture, values, and voices that make our community unique.

Our party has lost too many local voices—especially people of color and longtime working families—because they no longer feel seen or represented. It’s time to bring them back. We need to rebuild our party from the ground up, centered around inclusion, respect, and real representation. That means listening to and empowering our minority communities, and making sure that everyone—no matter their background—has a seat at the table.

I’m running because I want to be part of that change. I want to help create a stronger, more united Democratic Party—one that reflects the diversity of our city and the future we all believe in. Let’s bring our people back, rebuild our trust, and make our party strong again—for everyone.

Vote for Michael Segura for SCC—because Santa Fe deserves leadership that looks like its people.

David Thompson
Since the 2nd vice-chair is not automatically a member of the SCC, I’m seeking election to the SCC. See my statement of candidacy for county vice-chair.

Xubi Wilson
I feel that while our country is clearly in crisis, our party is also in crisis and facing a critical crossroads. I feel that I have the political experience and leadership qualities to help us seize the moment that we face.

I feel that the Democratic Party has allowed itself to be guided by polling, fundraising and a class of consultants and pundits that have not inspired our grassroots. We need to show leadership and empathy in this moment to inspire the masses that our values represent. We need to help them to believe in us by showing them that we believe in them through actions and not just words.
