DPSFC Monthly Meeting – Forum on Roadblocks to Reentry after Prison @ Center for Progress and Justice
Feb 20 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

The Democratic Party of Santa Fe County is hosting an upcoming forum on how New Mexico’s policymakers can help reintegrate people with criminal records into society in ways that better promote public safety. New Mexicans with criminal records seeking reentry face a daunting array of counterproductive, debilitating and unreasonable roadblocks in almost every important aspect of life.

The Forum on Roadblocks to Reentry After Prison will examine New Mexico’s current legal barriers to employment, housing, benefits, voting, access to criminal records, parenting, and driving, and will explore visions for the future with a panel of experts:

Barron Jones, Smart Justice Coordinator for the ACLU of New Mexico, is committed to opening doors and breaking down barriers by reforming our broken criminal justice system.

Dan Cron, criminal defense attorney, monitored the federal court order that was placed over the Penitentiary of New Mexico following the prison riot. He gained national prominence for his work in exposing the deficiencies of the New Mexico prison system and then working with the Corrections Department to correct the problems.

Selinda Guerrero, Field Organizer, Strong Families New Mexico; Community Organizer for Forward Together; National Action Coordinator for Save the Kids, where she gives voice to the voiceless and works to end the school-to-prison pipeline.
